You must be at least 16 years old to get a learners permit. You have to be at least 18 years old for your drivers license. You must clear a vision test, pass a traffic laws and road signs test, and pay the required fee to receive your learners permit. You have to show that you understand and recognize of traffic control devices. must have 180-day instruction period after receiving permit. After that you can get your drivers license.

To get your Drivers License, you need demonstrate satisfactory operation of a motor vehicle and clear any physical or mental examination the MVD may find necessary to gauge your ability to operate a motor vehicle safely.
Expired License: Kentucky law requires you to pass an eyesight exam and a written exam of your ability to read and understand highway signs and of your knowledge of Kentucky traffic laws before your license can be renewed.
Teens: If less than 16 years of age, applicant must get the application signed by parent/guardian. If you are under the age of 18 may not drive between the hours of midnight and 6:00 a.m. Parent/Guardian must certify 60 hours practice driving, out of which 10 hours must be at night. All drivers under the age of 21 are subject to “Zero Alcohol Tolerance.”
