You must also submit a valid driver's license from your country of origin as proof of prior driving experience. If you cannot show proof of prior driving experience, you must first obtain a beginner's permit and hold it for 180 days before applying for a driver's license.

 

Teen Drivers

If you are under 18 years of age, you must have a parent or legal guardian sign your application. To apply for a Special Restricted Driver's license, you must be 16 years of age and have held your beginner's permit for at least 180 days or have a conditional license. If you are at least 17 years old and have held a beginner's permit for 180 days, you are eligible for a regular SC driver's license.

Documents needed for establishing identity:

You must be accompanied by someone of at least 21 years of age, with a valid license for at least 1 year . A certified driving instructor may also accompany you. Your supervising driver must be seated in the car on the passenger seat next to you. .
